Almaty has intensified efforts to prevent traffic violations at night, with raids uncovering nearly 550 violations, according to infohub.kz.
As reported by NUR.KZ, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement focused particularly on motorcycles and mopeds, as well as violations that are more frequently recorded during hours of darkness.
Ten mobile units were formed for the operation, involving officers from the road safety service, patrol police, and district police divisions.
In total, the raids identified 544 traffic violations. Among the cases established were 18 instances of driving while intoxicated. Forty-six drivers were penalized for improper maneuvering, and seven cases involved creating an emergency situation.
Special attention was paid to motorcycles: 13 mopeds and 5 motorcycles were taken to a specialized impound lot. Additionally, 58 electric scooters belonging to kick-sharing companies were removed from the streets.
“Road safety does not depend on the time of day. This is especially true at night, when some drivers allow themselves to speed, perform dangerous maneuvers, drive while intoxicated, or use vehicles that violate established requirements. That is why we have increased control specifically during nighttime hours. Our primary task is to prevent dangerous behavior on the road and avert accidents,” said Abdinur Tasybaev, head of the Administrative Police Department of Almaty’s Police Department.
