Reports circulating on social media that a prosecutor from one of the districts of the Almaty Region was detained at a nightclub in Almaty have drawn an official response from the city police, according to infohub.kz.

The claim first appeared on the social network Threads. According to the author of the post, a senior prosecutor with the prosecutor's office of the Yenbekshikazakh district of the Almaty Region was placed in a temporary detention facility following an incident at a nightclub in Almaty.

"While in a state of alcohol intoxication, he disturbed public order at a nightclub in Almaty and also failed to comply with the lawful demands of police officers, and was therefore detained," the post reads.

The post also suggests that the detained man was eventually released.

In comments beneath the post, the Almaty Police Department said a report of a conflict at one of the city's venues had been received on the 102 emergency line.

"Those involved in the incident were taken to the Almaly district police department. An investigation is under way, and an appropriate decision will be made based on its results," police said.

An NUR.KZ correspondent also sought comment from the prosecutor's office of the Almaty Region.
