Saltanat Azirbek, official representative of the Almaty Police Department, addressed the question of whether residents are rewarded for reporting traffic violations during a briefing at the Regional Communications Service (RSC), reports infohub.kz.

“This measure has not yet been legally approved, but we express our immense gratitude to such citizens for their active civic stance. It shows that the safety of the city where they live matters to them. It is very important that everyone follows this example. Sometimes, of course, there are even funny cases. But it is better for us to handle each case individually,” Azirbek said.

She also reminded that there are many resources for filing complaints — not only by calling 102, but also by taking a photo of the violation and sending it online via the E-otinish service. Additionally, the Almaty police will soon launch a single hotline for citizens’ convenience, where they can report traffic violations and a suspicious neighbor at any time of day.

“The unified number will be launched within a week,” the metropolitan police clarified. Regarding rewards, the police representative added: “Such a measure is not approved, but we would like to see it, as is done in developed countries.”

For context, in Astana, according to a city administration resolution, the reward for information on administrative violations is up to 20 monthly calculation indices (MCI), which amounts to 86,500 tenge.
