Ahead of September 1, the road situation in Almaty will require special attention from law enforcement. Due to unfinished construction work on the city's main highways, the police are preparing for a significant increase in traffic load, reports infohub.kz.
Timur Nogaibaev, head of the Public Security Department of the Almaty Police Department, noted at a briefing at the Regional Communications Service that not all road facilities will be put into operation by the start of the school year. This will create additional difficulties for motorists and pedestrians.
"The load will, of course, be colossal. Foot patrols will be deployed at intersections to ensure road safety. We often see people who, knowing that an intersection is congested and there are traffic jams ahead, still enter and cause a collapse. Therefore, to prevent such violations and collapses, we will definitely deploy patrol police units," Nogaibaev emphasized.
Special attention will be paid to the main entry routes: the Talgar and Kuldzha highways, as well as the direction from the Karasai district of the Almaty region. Additional patrol posts will appear there.
Meanwhile, no adjustments to traffic light operations are planned. However, as the head of the department assured, if necessary, duty operators will use the video surveillance system to monitor the situation and promptly regulate traffic at problematic intersections.
