A new preferential mortgage program "Alatau" at 5% annual interest has been launched in the Almaty region. Employed Kazakh citizens aged 18 to 60 can participate, reports infohub.kz.
The "Alatau" program is designed for residents of the region who need improved housing conditions. This year, 3.2 billion tenge has been allocated for its implementation, which will allow issuing more than 120 loans.
Terms of the "Alatau" mortgage: 5% annual rate, 10% down payment, maximum loan amount up to 30 million tenge. An important restriction: the apartment can only be purchased in a new building and only in the city of Konaev. Also, only citizens who do not own housing can participate.
The program targets workers in certain sectors: education, healthcare, culture, sports, social sphere, energy and utilities, civil service, as well as media (this category was added in 2026).
Applications are accepted at the "Shakhnur" business center in Konaev. Reception schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00, Saturday until 13:00. First, the akimat checks the documents, then the regional commission. Selection of participants is based on a point system: official marriage - 2 points; minor children - 2 points, plus 1 point for each additional child; work experience (at least two years) - 2 points, plus 1 point for each subsequent year; work in civil service or budgetary sphere - 5 points; title of world champion or Asian Games, including Paralympians - 7 points.
Winners of the competition will receive a referral to "Otbasy Bank", where income and credit history will be checked. If income is insufficient, two guarantors can be involved.
It is worth recalling that Kazakhstan also has mortgage programs with interest rates from 2% to 5%, in which socially vulnerable citizens on the housing waiting list can participate.
