Parents in the Almaty region are outraged by the quality of educational materials: instead of proper textbooks, schoolchildren were given printouts on A4 sheets fastened with paper clips. A video showing this situation was published by the Telegram channel "Letters to the President", reports infohub.kz.
In the footage, a woman shows printouts for Kazakh language, mathematics, and other subjects, claiming they were issued at school. "Masqara. What kind of education can you get with such books? How will my child gain knowledge with such textbooks?" she says off-camera.
The education department of the Almaty region explained that 224 children study in the fourth grade at this school. The main delivery of textbooks was completed in August, but at the end of August and beginning of September, enrollment continued, resulting in a shortage of some books.
"Due to an increase in the actual number of students, a temporary shortage of certain textbooks arose. To ensure the continuity of the educational process, students were temporarily provided with access to electronic textbooks and available educational materials," the department noted.
At the same time, officials emphasized that no requirements were made for children or parents to print entire electronic textbooks on A4 sheets and bring them to school. The missing textbooks are currently being purchased additionally in the Karasai district, with delivery to schools expected to be completed by September 7.
Earlier, Kursiv reported about 700 comments and errors found in textbooks for Kazakhstani schoolchildren.
