Police in Almaty have opened a criminal case following an overnight brawl near a city bar, in which a well-known Kazakh rapper is a suspect, the website infohub.kz reports.
Information about the fight involving, allegedly, Kazakh rapper Qurt (Damir Koishubaev) appeared on the social network Threads. "On the night of August 30-31, at around 4-5 a.m., a student of public speaking courses was brutally beaten at Furmanov, 118. According to the victim and witnesses, he was beaten by Kazakh rapper Qurt, Damir Koishubaev," a post by user @qwertgyassd reads.
According to the post, the victim was at the bar with his acquaintances, and the rapper with his own. After a verbal conflict broke out between the two groups, it escalated into a fight outside the establishment. According to the author of the post, the man was injured and hospitalized as a result.
As the Almaty Police Department told a NUR.KZ correspondent, an investigation has been launched into the incident. "A criminal case has been opened by the Medeu District Police Department over this incident. The identities of all participants have been established. Measures are being taken to detain them. The investigation is ongoing. Its progress is under the control of the DP leadership," the department said.
