In the mountains near Almaty, rescuers were called out twice in a single day to help tourists — two groups required assistance, the website infohub.kz reports.
The first incident occurred in the Talgar district of the Almaty region, near Bukreyev Peak at an altitude of 3,010 meters above sea level. Staff from the Almaty Center for Monitoring and Rapid Response helped three girls born in 2007.
It turned out that the tourists were unable to continue their descent on their own because of a steep slope and asked rescuers for help.
"The rescuers safely escorted the girls to the highway toward the village of Besagash. They did not require medical assistance and planned to continue their journey on their own," the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan said.
Later, in the Bostandyk district of Almaty, two young tourists climbed to an altitude of about 2,200 meters above sea level in the Kok-Zhailau tract. During their descent they strayed from the route and were unable to find their way on their own.
Rescuers from the Almaty Center for Monitoring and Rapid Response were immediately sent to help them.
The rescuers soon found the tourists and safely escorted them down to an environmental post, where they handed them over to police officers.
The young tourists also did not require medical assistance.
