A resident of Almaty has been held administratively liable for spreading false information about the military draft procedure, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Defense, on July 17, the man posted a video on Facebook claiming that citizens could be drafted into military service even if they had medical conditions.
After the publication, the competent authorities conducted a check and established that the information was false. On August 15, the author was brought to administrative responsibility.
The Ministry of Defense stressed that the decision on fitness for military service is made based on a medical examination, taking into account the state of health and established requirements.
Thus, the ministry said that claims about the possibility of drafting citizens without regard to their health do not correspond to the established procedure.
The ministry also reminded that spreading false information in cases provided by law may entail liability, and urged people to obtain information about the draft and medical examinations only from official sources.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Ministry of Defense denied rumors of a possible increase in the draft age to 50. The ministry said there are no such plans and expanding the age limits for conscription is not being considered.
