A 19-year-old Almaty resident, who was wanted by his family, told police he was a Jamaican citizen, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Almaty Police Department, the man, who had no documents, was taken to a detention center. When asked to identify himself, he claimed to be a 19-year-old Jamaican citizen.
However, a database check did not confirm his story. Police continued their investigation and found that he was actually a Kazakh citizen born in 2003, residing in the Alatau district of Almaty. The man was on the wanted list, as his relatives had reported him missing.
Police contacted the man's father, who soon arrived at the detention center and identified his son. It turned out that the young man suffers from a mental illness. After all circumstances were clarified, he was handed over to his father.
