Almaty's Department for Road Infrastructure Development has responded to a resident's complaint about potholes left on Saina Street after new asphalt was laid, infohub.kz reports.

According to the department, storm drain grates were removed while the street was being paved.

"Because work on the upper layer of the asphalt concrete surface was carried out in mid-October, the storm sewer inspection blocks were temporarily dismantled. As of today, all blocks have been reinstalled at the design level," the department said.

Earlier, an Instagram user under the handle Boris.drive posted a video warning that new asphalt had been laid on Saina Street below Ryskulov and potholes had been left behind. He counted five potholes with no barriers around them.

He also showed a car with a bent wheel in the video. The damage is believed to have occurred after the vehicle hit a pothole. According to the video's author, the potholes are located near the Sofia residential complex.
