In Almaty, automatic Sergek cameras are planned to be used to monitor violations by users of rental e-scooters. The police have already begun integrating data from kick-sharing companies with their database, reports infohub.kz.
Official representative of the Almaty Police Department, Saltanat Azirbek, stated that after the integration is completed, Sergek will be able to automatically detect violations committed by e-scooter users. However, the department does not yet specify the exact timeline for launching such monitoring.
Currently, violations are mainly detected by patrol officers, district inspectors, mobile electric patrols, and scooter patrols.
According to Azirbek, since the beginning of 2026, more than 18,000 e-scooter users have been held accountable for traffic violations.
After connecting Sergek, control over them is planned to be carried out automatically. For this, the police need to link data from kick-sharing services with their information systems, so that the camera not only records the violation but also identifies the user of a specific scooter.
The police have not yet specified which violations Sergek will be able to automatically detect and how users will receive notifications about fines.
