Residents of the Sofia residential complex in Almaty staged a nighttime protest demanding action over a hot water supply outage. Video from the scene was posted on the Instagram account kris__p__kaz, according to infohub.kz.
According to the video's caption, residents of the Sofia complex in Almaty's Alatau district demanded that attention be paid to the hot water supply problem.
Almaty's akimat commented on the situation. According to the press service, hot water supply disruptions at the Sofia residential complex in the Alatau district began on September 11. The cause was debt and unresolved contractual issues between the property owners' association (OSI), the management company and the energy supply organization.
After the akimat intervened, the boiler house and hot water supply were restored at 11:20 p.m. the same day. According to available information, residents of the complex owe a total of 24.83 million tenge for electricity, with about another 7 million tenge owed for the operation of an autonomous boiler house. According to the OSI, the private boiler house receives electricity through the residential complex's networks, but no separate contract has been concluded for its power supply.
After residents appealed, representatives of the Alatau district akim's office and relevant Almaty akimat departments promptly arrived at the scene. Together with the OSI, the management company Volden V LLP and the energy supply organization, work was carried out to resolve the situation and restore hot water supply.
The boiler house is currently operating normally. Almaty's akimat continues to keep the situation under control. The parties are working through the issues of debt and contractual relations in accordance with the procedure established by law.
