The Central Stadium in Almaty is preparing for an important football match: on August 20, Kairat will face Belgium's Anderlecht in the Europa League playoff round. However, ahead of the game, questions arose about the condition of the pitch after a massive Kanye West concert held at the venue. As it turned out, restoration work is in full swing, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Almaty Sports Facilities Directorate, dismantling work began at the stadium as early as August 16, the day after the show. Specialists then proceeded with scheduled agrotechnical measures to maintain the football field.
"As of August 19, the pitch is undergoing mowing, aeration, and spiking, overseeding, sanding, as well as enhanced day and night watering. All work is carried out by specialized professionals, taking into account the current state of the natural turf and the upcoming football match on August 20," the directorate said.
It is noted that the condition of the football field is under constant monitoring. Specialists continue a comprehensive set of necessary turf maintenance measures to ensure its readiness for the game.
