A major accident involving five cars occurred in Almaty, with the main suspect being the driver of a stolen foreign car. This was reported by a NUR.KZ correspondent, citing city police, according to infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the Almaty Police Department, the traffic accident happened today, September 15, at around 12:00 along the Bolshoy Almatinsky Canal.
"According to preliminary data, the driver of a Nissan, moving east along the BAC, west of Sarbastau Street, lost control and collided with a Mitsubishi ahead. As a result of the collision, several other cars were hit by inertia," police said.
It is known that the drivers of the Nissan and Mitsubishi were taken to a medical facility for necessary assistance.
"During the investigation, it was also established that the driver had unlawfully taken the Nissan from his neighbor. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of theft by the Alatau district police department. The circumstances of the incident are being established," added the Almaty Police Department.
