Almaty continues to transform its urban spaces, making them more modern and convenient. In the Almaly District, the renovation of a section of Panfilov Street from Zhibek Zholy Avenue to Raiymbek Avenue has been completed, extending a pedestrian route to the Almaty-2 railway station, reports infohub.kz.
The project was carried out under the “People’s Participation Budget” program with support from the district administration. Almaly District Mayor Arman Shamshin noted that residents voted and defined the desired look of the street. During the work, the sidewalk was paved with cobblestones, over two kilometers of cable lines for lighting were laid, and about 18,000 shrubs were planted.
Additionally, a section of Tchaikovsky Street — from Kazybek bi Street to Aiteke bi Street — was improved in the district. The same participatory budgeting mechanism was used: greenery was updated, an automatic watering system was installed, new paving, shade canopies, and a pergola were added, modern lighting was installed, and cable lines were laid. Facade modernization of historic buildings is also ongoing — 60 houses are planned for renovation this year.
Elena Krasnovskaya, chairwoman of the Keleshek-51 condominium association, expressed satisfaction with the results: “Residents are very pleased. Because this is such a renewal. There’s not much to say. You can see for yourself, yes, look at the house and understand. Especially since there’s before and after. Plus, they also installed drainage systems as a bonus. And they put in heating cables.”
