In Almaty, the renovation of the State Academic Russian Theater for Children and Youth named after Natalia Sats is nearing completion. Kursiv LifeStyle shows what has changed on the adjacent territory over nearly two years of construction... reports the website infohub.kz.

The historic facade of the theater has been preserved unchanged. The stone cladding has been renewed and now looks lighter and fresher. The entrance group also remains in its original form. Only the mosaic panel had a layer of colored paint removed, making it monochrome.

In place of the historic fountain, a water play complex in the form of a stream has appeared. Metal play elements are installed here, and the area has become part of a new children's playground. The space looks interesting for children, but currently there is almost no shade here. Therefore, in hot weather, it is more comfortable to use the playground closer to the evening.

The fountain itself was previously considered the largest in the Auezov district. It was opened in 2020 after reconstruction under the "Participatory Budget" program, and a few years later it was dismantled. Now the space has been reimagined as part of the play area.

In front of the modern extension, an amphitheater lined with white stone has appeared. The space can be used for open-air performances or simply for relaxation, but only when the sun is not at its zenith.

The extension itself looks noticeably more modest than in the renderings shown a couple of years ago. The building will house a chamber stage for 200 spectators, as well as service premises for theater staff. Previously, this place was a parking lot.

The square next to the theater has also changed. New paving slabs were laid, trash bins were installed, and young trees were planted.

Overall, the adjacent territory has been noticeably updated and improved. One can hope that the theater named after Mukhtar Auezov in Almaty, which has been under renovation since 2024, will undergo the same careful renewal.

Recall that the major renovation of the theater began in January 2025. Initially, it was planned to be completed by the theater's 80th anniversary in November 2025, and the extension by summer 2026. Later, the deadlines shifted, and the project cost increased from 22 billion to 23.9 billion tenge. The reconstruction of the site is carried out by BiGlobal LLP, owned by millionaire Aidyn Rakhimbayev.

According to the latest data, the theater should open its doors to visitors of all ages this autumn.
