In Almaty, a city resident noticed that tiles were being laid again near the stop at the intersection of Timiryazev and Baitursynov streets following recent repairs. It turned out the work is linked to the fact that the street's improvement project has not yet been completed, the website infohub.kz reports.
Almaty is continuing to improve Timiryazev Street. The work has also affected the stop at the intersection with Baitursynov Street, where tiles are being laid once again after recent repairs.
Threads user @raushan_zhakupova_ drew attention to the repeated work. She asked why the section was repaired in the summer only for the surface to be removed and replaced with different tiles a month later.
"What is the point of doing repairs in the summer, then a month later tearing it all up again and laying different tiles???" she wrote.
Almaty's Department for the Development of Public Spaces explained that the street's improvement has not yet been completed. The project provides for a comprehensive transformation of the area.
"A project is currently being implemented to transform Timiryazev Street from Baitursynov Street to Zhandosov Street on a 'facade-to-facade' basis. The project includes landscaping, installation of automatic irrigation, lighting poles and small architectural forms, a bicycle lane and paving with block stone. Regarding your inquiry, we inform you that construction and installation work on this section has not yet been completed. At present, tactile tiles are being laid at the stop you mentioned in accordance with the project," the statement said.
