Residents of Almaty are reporting damage to landscaping features in a new topiary park in the city's Zhetysu district. According to locals, visitors are destroying the animal figures and small houses, the website infohub.kz reports.

A user under the handle 21di_17_ posted a video on Threads showing the condition of the new park in the Zhetysu district. The Almaty resident demonstrated that the topiary animal figures and houses have already been damaged because children keep climbing on them.

"Zhetysu Park, Zhangeldin-Ryskulov. It hasn't even been a month, and everything is already broken. It's such a shame. Parents, watch your children — there's no need to hoist your 15-year-old kids up there to take photos and stand there laughing with them. Upbringing comes from adults. Watching us, they will take care of state property! Where will our children walk later if everything there is broken?" the Almaty resident wrote.

The landscaping department of the Zhetysu district akimat responded to the post.

"We urge visitors to the park to observe public order and treat landscaping features with care. We also note that the contractor, BeMir-Qurylis LLP, will carry out restoration work in the topiary park by October 30 of this year as part of its warranty obligations," the statement said.
