Almaty police have stepped up checks on tricycle drivers, with officers identifying about 60 traffic violations in a single raid, the website infohub.kz reports.
Law enforcement are paying particular attention to those driving tricycles without a license.
Under Operation Tricycle, police are checking vehicle registration, required documents and driving permits, as well as compliance with traffic rules.
One raid took place near the Central Clothing Market in the Alatau district, where officers recorded about 60 violations.
Special attention is being paid to those who have never obtained a driver's license. Police stress that a tricycle must be registered and its driver must have the legal right to operate such a vehicle. Owners are urged to check their documents and registration in advance.
The raids are aimed at curbing violations and preventing accidents. Police believe such measures should improve safety for all road users. Checks on three-wheeled vehicles in Almaty are set to continue.
Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that more than 4,000 violations had been detected in Astana since the start of the year using drones.
