From July 16 to 20, Almaty is bracing for intense heat, with temperatures in some areas reaching up to 42°C. This will be the hottest period so far this summer, prompting city services to increase street watering, according to Orda.kz.
According to the Almaty city administration, 16 columns of special vehicles will take to the roads during the hottest hours, not only watering the roadways but also spraying water into the air. The operation will cover more than 128 streets with heavy traffic and pedestrian flow.
In parallel, daily sanitary cleaning of the city continues. More than 500 units of special equipment are washing roads, sidewalks, bus stops, and other urban infrastructure facilities.
Watering and humidifying the air will help reduce the temperature at road surfaces, decrease dust levels, and protect asphalt from overheating.
It was previously reported that due to the anomalous heat, Almaty residents have been calling ambulances more frequently.
