Intimate parts of a female wolf, including a dried and salted "wolf kunka," have been put up for sale in Almaty, with the seller marketing it as an amulet for businesspeople, drivers and those facing misfortune. The unusual item was reported by the Telegram channel "Halyqstan," according to infohub.kz.
According to the channel, alongside wolf pelts, claws and fangs, the seller is offering the reproductive organ of a female wolf.
The seller claims the dried and salted animal part supposedly helps businesspeople and drivers, "opens the road" and protects against failure. The seller also asserts that the item can be used for infertility — for this, one merely needs to carry it and show it to no one.
The seller further claims that only an undamaged specimen — one that has not been bitten or scratched — "works."
Kursiv contacted the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to ask about the legality of such trade.
The ministry explained that the wolf in Kazakhstan is a species whose population is subject to regulation. Such regulation is carried out to protect public health, prevent environmental damage and avert the threat of significant harm to agriculture.
At the same time, the law provides for the possibility of hunted animals being owned by citizens and organizations.
"Wolves removed from their habitat in accordance with the procedure established by law, on the basis of the relevant permits, become the property of the individuals or legal entities that carried out their hunting," the Ministry of Ecology said.
