In Almaty, during the intense heatwave expected to last until July 20, authorities have stepped up street watering and air aeration, reports infohub.kz.
The Municipal Infrastructure and Housing Inspection Department, together with the Almaty Akimat, released a video on Instagram showing specialists detailing the city’s cooling measures amid the abnormal heat.
According to Kazhydromet, from July 16 to 20, temperatures in the city may locally reach +42°C. "For the first time this season, the mercury will exceed +40°C, so the city has intensified measures to cool the road network. During the hottest hours, 16 columns of special equipment will operate on 128 streets, performing watering and air aeration. This will help reduce asphalt heating, dust levels, and thermal load on urban areas," the statement said.
Washing of roads, sidewalks, stops, and other urban infrastructure facilities continues daily.
