An Almaty resident has taken to social media to complain about the prolonged reconstruction of Zharokova Street, prompting a response from the city's Public Spaces Development Department, infohub.kz reports.

The post appeared on the Threads page of a user with the handle hello_impumpkin, who addressed a question to the city administration. "Let's say Almaty residents love marathons, but not obstacle courses. Akimat, how do you propose we get around this dusty, sandy magnificence on Zharokova? Along the oncoming lane of the roadway? How long will these endless excavations continue all over the city? Or is there something I don't know, and we've all suddenly decided to take part in an offline Minecraft tournament?" the appeal reads.

The Almaty Public Spaces Development Department explained that the work is being carried out in stages as part of a comprehensive street improvement project. According to the department, the reconstruction is aimed at upgrading pedestrian infrastructure, improving the appearance of the area and creating comfortable and safe conditions for residents to get around.

"The construction and installation work is temporary and organized in a staggered pattern: work is carried out on individual sections while the other part of the pedestrian zone remains open for passage. This approach allows the planned work to be carried out in stages while preserving the ability of pedestrians to move around," the department said.

It also specified that work on the section in question is scheduled to be completed by November 20 of this year. The department is monitoring the progress of the work and taking measures to minimize temporary inconvenience for residents.
