In Paris, an American billionaire had a suitcase containing jewelry worth approximately €1.3 million stolen, reports infohub.kz.
The incident involves a 45-year-old entrepreneur who made his fortune trading medical technology. On the evening of July 19, he flew into Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport from Nice. He planned to stay at the Four Seasons hotel near the Champs-Élysées. At the airport, he was met by an employee of a private agency tasked with delivering his luggage to the hotel.
After arriving at the hotel, the man went for a walk around the city. Returning to his room in the evening, he found that only two suitcases had been delivered. The third, which he had carried as hand luggage and handed first to the agency employee at the airport, was missing.
CCTV footage showed only two suitcases being unloaded from the car at the hotel. According to preliminary reports, the third bag was lost or stolen at the airport.
Among the missing valuables are a ring worth €800,000 and several other jewelry pieces. The total value is estimated at around €1.3 million.
Police questioned the employee of the private company who had met the billionaire. What she told investigators has not been disclosed. The company declined to comment. The investigation is being handled by the police of the French department of Val-d'Oise.
