The fifth international Corgi festival Corgi Race Vilnius has concluded in the Lithuanian capital, bringing together 150 dogs from nine countries in Vingis Park. The winner of the final 25-meter sprint was a participant from the USA named GG, reports infohub.kz.
The large-scale event united owners of short-legged pets from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Germany, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, the USA, and the UK. Organizer Edvinas Miškas noted that the tournament has grown from 40 participants from a single city to 150 dogs from nine countries.
In the main running program, 94 corgis competed in qualifying heats, semifinals, and the final. First place in the 25-meter sprint went to a dog named GG (short for Gustave the Girl Dog) from the USA, while second place went to her compatriot named Mr. Corgington. Two-time champion from Lithuania, Moka, finished third.
In addition to racing, the program included a costume contest with 38 participants, won by a corgi named Amigo dressed as a knight. In the treat-finding challenge "Smartest Nose," Latvian dogs Tora and Rusty shared the victory, while the title of owner of the loudest bark went to Mr. Corgington.
Organizers proudly call Vilnius the European capital of corgis.
