A young traveler from the United States found himself in a tight spot in the East Kazakhstan region, but a local police officer came to his aid, the same officer who had previously performed a heroic act, reports infohub.kz.
On the Almaty – Ust-Kamenogorsk highway, near the 23rd microdistrict, local police inspector Nurdaulet Tetepov of the Ulan district noticed a young man with a large backpack trying to hitch a ride. The officer stopped and offered help. It turned out that Spencer, a 23-year-old U.S. citizen, was hitchhiking across Kazakhstan and heading towards Almaty.
The inspector offered to give him a lift to a stationary police post. On the way, they chatted. Spencer said he was glad to have the opportunity to travel through Kazakhstan and particularly praised the hospitality and friendliness of the locals.
Upon arriving at the post, Tetepov helped the traveler find a ride. Soon, a driver agreed to take Spencer to the Zharma district, from where the American continued his journey towards Almaty.
It is worth noting that on August 20, in the village of Kasym Kaysenov in the Ulan district, Tetepov descended into a sewer manhole to rescue two workers who had lost consciousness while cleaning a pipe. Without thinking about his own safety, he helped both men out and handed them over to ambulance crews.
