Tragic news has come from the world of hockey: 19-year-old defenseman Amir Khanov, a product of Ufa's Salavat Yulaev, has died suddenly. This was reported by infohub.kz.
The athlete's agent, Valery Zatsepin, told TASS that medical examinations Khanov underwent in July of last year and in February of this year revealed no health issues. "Based on the medical examinations in July of last year and February of this year, he had no health problems," Zatsepin's words are quoted by TASS.
Earlier, TASS, citing a source, reported that the preliminary cause of death could be heart problems: according to the source, a blood clot may have broken loose in the hockey player. The official cause of death has not yet been announced.
Amir Khanov was a product of the Salavat Yulaev system. As RIA Novosti notes, in the 2022/23 season, the defenseman was the highest-scoring defenseman on the Ufa team among players born in 2007 in the Russian championship among Volga region teams.
In addition, the athlete played for the Volga Federal District team, with which he won the Sirius Cup in 2022. Over the past two seasons, Khanov played in the National Junior Hockey League, representing Rybinsk's Polet and Samara.
