Anastasia Ivleeva bought a cow for $350 for the Hamer tribe in Ethiopia, aiming to help locals, reports infohub.kz.
However, the blogger did not expect the animal to be used for food almost immediately. "Friends, with all due respect, I cannot watch this because I will burst into tears. I feel so sorry for her!" the TV host shared in a recent episode on her YouTube channel.
After that, Ivleeva was invited to participate in the moment when the tribe drinks the cow's blood. According to her, it is important to do so in the first minutes after the animal's death. Ivleeva explained the significance of the tradition: "Firstly, blood is also water, and secondly, it's a way to get protein. A quick and quality way to get protein. And traditions — you can't escape from that either."
The blogger was presented with a large basin into which the cow's blood was drained. Ivleeva noted that the liquid tasted salty and warm. The tribal chief thanked her: "Thank you to this woman for bringing the cow. Now we will eat raw meat, liver, and stomach."
The community leader also told Ivleeva that the tribe consumes meat about once every two months, and for the rest of the time, their main food that quenches both thirst and hunger is a specific beer.
