Anatoly Kashpirovsky, a Soviet and Russian psychotherapist and TV presenter who rose to widespread fame in the late 1980s with televised "healing" sessions, has died at the age of 86. His director, Sergei Rudykh, confirmed to journalists that Kashpirovsky died in a hospital, according to infohub.kz.
According to RBC, Anatoly Kashpirovsky was a Soviet and Russian psychotherapist and TV presenter. He served as a deputy in Russia's State Duma from 1993 to 1995.
A separate chapter of his biography is tied to Kazakhstan: during World War II, Kashpirovsky lived in a village in Kazakhstan.
The program "Health Sessions of Psychotherapist Anatoly Kashpirovsky" aired once every two weeks on Sundays on Channel One of Central Television from October 8, 1989, until mid-December. Its host described his appearances as "an act of specific psychotherapeutic influence," whose "therapeutic effect" begins "from the very first second of communication."
