Japanese brand Anrealage presented its spring-summer 2027 collection titled Skin in Paris, centered on clothing that can change its appearance almost like living skin. The show marked the label's 25th in the French capital, according to infohub.kz.
Anrealage founder Kunihiko Morinaga established the brand in 2003. The company is known for experiments at the intersection of fashion, art, and technology.
In the Skin collection, the designer explored the idea of constantly changing skin. Some garments featured 3D-printed scales that shift hue depending on the viewing angle. The Effective Skin technology was developed by Japanese company Sekisai.
The most unusual moment came near the finale of the show. Anrealage unveiled six cocktail and evening dresses covered in electronic scales. Each garment contained between 1,000 and 2,000 individually controlled elements.
Unlike conventional LED screens, these elements do not emit light themselves — they change color through the properties of the material. As a result, the dress literally rewrites its own pattern as the model moves.
Colors on the garments shifted from bright shades to gray, then formed new patterns. The effect was accompanied by a live performance of Igor Stravinsky's "The Firebird" and referenced the collection's central image — the rebirth of the phoenix.
Comments on posts about the show are filled with genuine delight. Many recalled the costumes from the film "The Hunger Games."
"Fantastic," "Reminded me of Chalayan's work," "Very beautiful," users wrote.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that 18-year-old model Asylai Bolat from Atyrau made her debut at Paris Fashion Week. She opened the show for Swedish brand HODAKOVA, which presented its spring-summer 2027 collection.
