After being knocked down twice in the first round, British boxer Anthony Joshua turned the fight around and knocked out Albanian Christian Prenga in the second round at a tournament in Jeddah, reports infohub.kz.
The heavyweight (over 90.7 kg) bout headlined the show in the Saudi capital. Scheduled for 12 rounds, it ended early. In the first round, Prenga attacked aggressively and knocked down Joshua twice. Joshua was able to continue, and in the second round he knocked out the Albanian.
For the 37-year-old Briton, this is his second consecutive victory. The former world champion now has 30 wins (27 by knockout) and four losses, including two stoppage defeats. This fight was Joshua's first since a tragic car accident at the end of 2025 that killed his friends and coaches. The boxer himself was not seriously injured in the crash.
For the 35-year-old Prenga, this is his first stoppage loss in his professional career. The Albanian has 20 wins by knockout and two losses overall.
Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, who vacated all heavyweight world titles in June, watched the fight in person. Usyk was supporting Joshua, with whom he shares a friendly relationship.
The Briton himself said he intends to next fight his compatriot Tyson Fury. Their bout is expected to take place in late 2026. On July 24, Fury defeated Polish boxer Mariusz Wach by stoppage at a tournament in Thailand.
