Italian Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli won the Italian Grand Prix, the 13th round of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Despite a grid penalty for an engine change that dropped him to 19th place at Monza, the 20-year-old managed to finish first, securing his seventh win of the season, reports infohub.kz.
Second across the line was Britain's George Russell, also driving for Mercedes. Rounding out the podium was Dutchman Max Verstappen of Red Bull, a four-time F1 champion.
Reigning champion Lando Norris of McLaren took fourth place, while Frenchman Pierre Gasly of Alpine, who started from pole position, could only manage seventh.
After the Italian Grand Prix, Antonelli strengthened his lead in the standings with 267 points. Russell is second with 201, and fellow Briton Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari is third with 191. The seven-time F1 champion finished sixth at the Italian round.
The next round of the championship will be held from September 11 to 13 in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
