Apple has raised the price of every previous generation of iPhone still on sale without any public announcement, according to Engadget, as reported by infohub.kz.
During its presentation of new devices, Apple stressed several times that prices for some gadgets, including the latest Apple Watch models, had stayed the same. But the tech giant chose not to mention the price hikes on older devices. Journalists noticed that the cost of every previous generation of smartphone listed on the company's official website had risen by exactly $100.
The base iPhone 16 now starts at $799, up from $699. That returns the device to its original 2024 price, even though it had been discounted after the next lineup launched. The budget iPhone 17E, which went on sale earlier this year at $599, will now cost buyers at least $699.
Other popular models from the brand were affected too. The iPhone 17 with 256 gigabytes of storage rose from $799 to $899, while the price tag on the iPhone Air climbed from $999 to $1,099. At the same time, the AirPods Pro 3 stayed at their previous price — experts attribute this to the fact that they have no built-in RAM, which is getting more expensive on the global market.
