Tolegen Abdisagievich Kozhamkulov (1946) is an outstanding theoretical physicist specializing in quantum field theory and the founder of a new scientific direction in quantum chromodynamics. He is a Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Kazakhstan and a laureate of the Al-Farabi State Prize. Born in the Almaty region, he graduated from the Faculty of Physics of S.M. Kirov Kazakh State University and completed postgraduate studies at the A.F. Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute in St. Petersburg. He worked as an assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor, head of the Department of Theoretical Physics, dean of the faculty, director of the Research Institute of Experimental and Theoretical Physics at KazSU (1970-1998), rector of Zhetysu State University (1998-2001) and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (2001-2008), and vice president of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan (2005-2012). He authored three monographs, including the first in the field of stochastic quantization in field theory. He is the first and only Kazakhstani to have mastered the nine-volume course on theoretical physics by Landau and Lifshitz. He was one of the initiators of the establishment of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan.
Ulugbek Esdauletov (1954) is the chairman of the Union of Writers of Turkic States under TURKSOY. Born in the East Kazakhstan region, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of KazSU and the Higher Literary Courses at the M. Gorky Literary Institute. He worked as a proofreader, head of department at the newspaper "Kazakhstan Pioneri", editor at the "Zhazushy" publishing house, editor of the youth editorial board of Kazakh Television, correspondent for the newspaper "Kazakh Adebieti", secretary of the board of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan, editor-in-chief of the newspapers "Zhas Kazakh" and "Kazakh Adebieti", head of department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Zhuldyz", and chairman of the board of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan (2018-2023). He authored the lyrics of the anthem "Zaman-Ai" for the Semey-Nevada anti-nuclear movement and popular songs. His poems have been translated into Russian and other languages.
Raushan Birgebaevna Sarsembaeva (1956) is the president of the Association of Business Women of Kazakhstan. Born in Almaty, she graduated from the Almaty Institute of National Economy with a degree in economics. She worked as an engineer-economist, trainee researcher, postgraduate student, deputy director of the Institute for Advanced Training under the State Committee on Statistics of the Kazakh SSR, and general director of Raushan JSC. She has held her current position since 1995.
Nurtore Baitlesuly Zhusip (1961) is a senator in the Parliament of Kazakhstan and chairman of the Committee on Socio-Cultural Development and Science. A native of the Kyzylorda region, he graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. He worked as a correspondent, head of department, deputy editor-in-chief of the Pavlodar regional newspaper "Kyzyl Tu", head of the economics department and deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Egemen Qazaqstan", editor-in-chief of the newspapers "Zhas Alash" and "Ak Zhol Kazakhstan", general director of the Egemen Qazaqstan Republican Newspaper JSC, editor-in-chief of "Astana Habary" and "AIQYN", and senator (2019-2022). He has held his current position since December 2022.
Nurlan Bayangalievich Alimzhanov (1984) is a Kazakh actor, singer, composer, TV presenter, and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan. Born in Almaty, he graduated from the T.K. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. He worked as an actor at the G. Musrepov State Academic Theatre, at the film studios "Kazakhfilm", "Pan Nurmaganbet", "Satai Film", at the Khabar Agency, and served as a deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the 6th convocation and head of the culture department of Nur-Sultan. He gained his greatest fame for playing the role of Nursultan Nazarbayev in the film epic "The Way of the Leader".
Anuar Kanatovich Zhangozin (1986) is the chairman of the board of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (AOO). Born in Karaganda, he graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University and Nazarbayev University. He worked at the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools as a manager, director of a department, mathematics teacher, school director in Astana, head of the education department of Astana, and chairman of the board of the Center for International Programs JSC. He has held his current position since March 2023.
Nurlan Talgatovich Nurgabylov (1988) is the head of the Department of Land Relations of Almaty. Born in the town of Ushtobe, Almaty region, he graduated from the Kazakh State Law Academy, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and the University of Dundee. He worked as a managing director in banks, project manager, and in consulting companies. He has held his current position since April 2023.
Also born on this day was Akhmet Kuanovich Zhubanov (1906-1968), a composer, musicologist, ethnographer, conductor, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, and People's Artist of Kazakhstan. A native of the Aktobe region, he studied at the Leningrad Music College and Conservatory. He organized a dombra ensemble, which later became the Kurmangazy Orchestra of Kazakh Folk Instruments. He worked as artistic director of the Kazakh Philharmonic, rector of the Almaty Conservatory, and head of the department and music section of the Institute of Literature and Art. He authored scientific works on Kazakh music and is one of the founders of professional musical art in Kazakhstan. He was awarded the Order of Lenin; a music boarding school and a street in Almaty are named after him.
