In Taraz, a court has sentenced three men for an armed attack on shoppers, during which 13 million tenge were stolen. The defendants received sentences ranging from 10 to 12 years in prison, according to infohub.kz.
As reported on the official Telegram channel of the Zhambyl Regional Courts, the specialized inter-district criminal court reviewed the case against three defendants accused of robbery committed by a group with prior conspiracy, using violence and weapons, as well as illegal possession and carrying of weapons (Paragraph 2, Part 4, Article 192; Part 2, Article 287 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The court established that in December 2025, the defendants, intending to commit robbery, posted an advertisement on WhatsApp about an allegedly urgent sale of small livestock, providing an address. Having armed themselves with firearms in advance, they met three buyers who arrived in the Turar Ryskulov district.
"The defendants, using firearms, openly seized 13 million tenge, causing minor harm to the health of one of the victims, and fled the scene," the court said.
The defendants' guilt was fully proven by testimonies of the parties and witnesses, expert opinions, and physical evidence.
The victims forgave the defendants and left the punishment to the court's discretion; no civil claims were filed. Two defendants partially admitted guilt, one did not.
The court considered partial admission of guilt as a mitigating circumstance for two defendants. For the third, a prior conviction was recognized as an aggravating circumstance.
Ultimately, the latter, considering his role as the initiator of the crime, was sentenced to 12 years in prison by partially adding the unserved sentence from a 2019 conviction. Another defendant received 11 years in a colony, and the other received 10 years in prison.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
