Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the country's current government will resign on Sunday, August 2, due to the formation of a new convocation of the National Assembly, according to infohub.kz.
According to Izvestia, citing Armenian TV channel News.am, Pashinyan said at a meeting on July 30: "This is our last government meeting. Due to the formation of the ninth convocation of the National Assembly, in accordance with the constitution, we will resign." After the government's resignation, the president will appoint as prime minister the candidate nominated by the parliamentary majority — the ruling Civil Contract party.
Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7. On June 8, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan publicly declared the victory of his Civil Contract party in the elections. On the same day, Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev congratulated Pashinyan on his party's victory.
