On the morning of October 11, Kazakhstan residents faced a sharp increase in ride prices on the inDrive taxi service — amid a disruption in Yandex services, the cost of some orders tripled, reports infohub.kz.

Users on Threads reported significant fare increases after Yandex Go stopped working. One user noted that prices "skyrocketed": where a ride previously cost 900 tenge, now a taxi could only be hailed for 2,600 tenge.

Other users pointed out that taxi rides in Almaty reached 4,000 tenge. Some also expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of rides and service.

The situation became so serious that Arsen Tomsky, founder and CEO of inDrive, commented on it. He acknowledged that the sharp influx of passengers created an imbalance between supply and demand. According to him, the company has already reduced commissions to the minimum level necessary to cover mandatory taxes in order to attract drivers.

"Today, we will most likely further limit the bargaining range to curb excessive price growth," said Arsen Tomsky.

Earlier, it was reported that disruptions were observed in the operation of Yandex Go services — taxi and food and goods delivery — in Kazakhstan. The company claims it is working to restore services, but the exact timeline is still unknown.
