The men's basketball tournament at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan continues on Monday, September 14, with Kazakhstan's national team taking the court, infohub.kz reports.
In the third round of Group C, the team coached by Aleksandr Lysyak will meet Bahrain. The game tips off on September 14 at 06:00 Astana time.
Kazakhstan's players suffered heavy defeats in their first two games — to China (61:99) and the Philippines (78:109). The team sits at the bottom of the four-team group, but a win on Monday would keep its playoff hopes alive.
Bahrain also lost to China (59:105), but beat the Philippines (89:85).
A total of 12 teams are competing in the men's basketball tournament, split into three groups. The top two teams from each group advance directly to the quarterfinals. In addition, the two best third-placed teams will also earn playoff berths.
At the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou 2022, Kazakhstan's men's basketball team finished third in its group and lost in the qualifying matches for a place in the quarterfinals.
