Kazakhstan's Civil Aviation Committee under the Ministry of Transport has responded to a request from Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport JSC to raise the fee for boarding and disembarking passengers via jet bridge, infohub.kz reports.
The Civil Aviation Committee had earlier published a transcript of a public hearing on the draft maximum price for Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport JSC.
According to the document, the current tariff has not been revised since 2012. At the time of the hearings, it stood at 161.7 tenge per minute of jet bridge operation. The service was noted to have generated 191 million tenge in revenue, while costs exceeded 465 million tenge. The loss thus reached 273 million tenge.
The airport administration proposed raising the tariff to 1,842.72 tenge per minute of jet bridge operation, excluding value-added tax. In other words, this amounted to an increase of nearly 11.4 times.
However, the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport said the projected maximum price for the socially significant service of boarding and disembarking passengers via jet bridge on domestic flights needed to be reduced.
The committee attached a reasoned opinion. According to the document, its specialists carried out their own calculations and concluded that, taking costs into account, the tariff should be 699.58 tenge per minute, excluding VAT.
