Kazakhstan's capital has launched an autonomous solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles that operates without connection to the city power grid. This pilot project could serve as the basis for a network of similar facilities across the country, reports infohub.kz.
The eco-hub is located on the grounds of the Alatau sports complex. It was developed by the Kazakh company BOLASHAQ POWER.
The station operates off-grid, combining 100 kW of solar generation with energy storage totaling 645 kWh. The facility also meets the criteria of Kazakhstan's Green Taxonomy.
Currently, project participants are considering installing similar stations along national highways, in cities, at industrial enterprises, and other infrastructure sites.
As noted by Mansur Oshurbaev, Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan, the goal is to move from individual demonstration projects to full-fledged infrastructure. "We must create not just separate green facilities, but a whole low-carbon economy infrastructure where renewable energy, electric transport, innovative technologies, and carbon projects work as a unified system," he emphasized.
The ministry believes that developing such a network will simultaneously expand infrastructure for electric vehicles and reduce their carbon footprint. Additionally, these projects are planned to attract private investment and develop Kazakhstan's climate projects under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
