A district criminal court in the capital sentenced a car dealership manager who used forged documents to remove and sell eight JAC J7 vehicles without depositing the proceeds into the company's cash register, infohub.kz reports.

The court found that the eight sold cars were worth 53.1 million tenge. The manager did not hand over the money received from buyers to the organization's cash desk.

In January 2026, the man offered another client three JAC vehicles at a reduced price. After receiving 16.5 million tenge, he did not deliver the cars to the buyer and used the money as he saw fit. The total damage amounted to 69.6 million tenge.

The investigation initially classified the first episode as embezzlement. However, the court changed the charge to fraud, since the vehicles had not been entrusted to the manager.

"He did not accept them under financial liability, was not responsible for their storage, and did not have the authority to independently sell and hand them over to buyers," the court explained.

The prosecutor sought eight years in prison. The court sentenced the man to six years, taking into account his remorse, the presence of a young child, and no prior criminal record. In addition, he was banned for eight years from holding positions involving the sale of goods and services in commercial organizations.

The victims' civil claims were satisfied. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

Earlier in Astana, the director of another car dealership was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison. He promised six clients cars from China but spent the buyers' money. The damage exceeded 128 million tenge.

In Almaty, a manager of Sanzhar Rulit was sentenced to six years for defrauding a couple who paid 16.9 million tenge for a car. The buyers were left without a vehicle, and the manager's signature and seal on the contract turned out to be forged.
