Direct air service between the capitals of Kazakhstan and Thailand will open in December, with Air Astana set to operate flights from Astana to Bangkok, according to infohub.kz.
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport said flights on the Astana–Bangkok route will begin on December 11, 2026. They will be operated twice a week using Airbus A321LR aircraft.
Until now, travelers from Kazakhstan could only reach Thailand from Almaty and Shymkent. The republic's capital will now be added to those cities.
Once the new route launches, the total number of flights between Kazakhstan and Thailand will rise to 20 a week across four destinations. Flights to Thailand are currently operated on the following routes: Almaty–Phuket, 7 flights (Air Astana); Almaty–Bangkok, 9 flights (Air Astana — 6, Thai AirAsiaX — 3); Shymkent–Bangkok, 2 flights (SCAT).
"The new route between the capitals of the two states will expand opportunities for tourist and business travel and will help further strengthen ties between Kazakhstan and Thailand," the Ministry of Transport said.
