Four members of a single family in Kazakhstan's capital are suspected of running a brothel that involved minors, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the investigation targeted 15 people, including several members of the same family.
"The investigation established that between 2023 and 2025, two sisters and their husbands set up a brothel in residential complexes to provide sexual services. The organized criminal group included security guards, administrators, and individuals who advertised the services through social media and messaging apps," the statement said.
The organizers are believed to have recruited young women at the city's nightclubs, promising them high earnings, accommodation, security and confidentiality.
"In addition, taking advantage of clients' state of alcohol intoxication, the perpetrators used physical force against them, extorted money and unlawfully held them in rented apartments," the Prosecutor General's Office added.
All 15 participants have been detained, and pretrial measures of detention and house arrest have been imposed on them.
The capital's prosecutor's office has sent the criminal case to court. A final legal assessment of the defendants' actions will be given during the court hearing.
