More than 8,500 young residents of Astana will receive backpacks and necessary school supplies free of charge by the start of the school year, reports infohub.kz.
The traditional republican charity campaign "Road to School" kicked off in the capital on August 1. Its main goal is to help children from socially vulnerable families prepare for the new school year.
According to the city administration, charitable assistance funded by sponsors will be provided to children from low-income and large families, orphans, and children left without parental care. They will receive school backpacks and educational supplies. Currently, educational institutions are finalizing lists of students in need.
Additionally, support is provided through the "Vseobuch" fund. Financial aid is available for orphans and children without parental care, students from low-income families, families receiving targeted social assistance, and children in difficult life situations. Funds are transferred to the accounts of parents or legal representatives so they can independently choose and purchase school uniforms, shoes, and stationery.
To date, more than 5,000 applications for financial assistance have been submitted to the capital's schools.
Furthermore, from August 2 to 31, school fairs will operate in all districts of Astana, where residents can buy school uniforms, shoes, and stationery at affordable prices. The city will also host the charity campaign "Meyirimdi koldar," during which district akimats will set up special containers for collecting school supplies and educational equipment.
