Construction sites in Astana are facing increased inspections as labor inspectors will monitor safety and occupational health, according to infohub.kz.
The state labor inspectorate in the capital has switched to an enhanced control mode at construction sites. The inspections aim to prevent accidents and identify violations of occupational safety requirements. Specialists will regularly visit construction sites directly. Particular attention will be paid to facilities and work where the risk of occupational injuries is higher.
"The main focus is on preventing accidents, timely detection of violations, and increasing the responsibility of developers and general contractors for worker safety," the agency reported.
Construction companies in the capital have also received recommendations to strengthen internal control. Plans are to cover about 20,000 entities in the construction sector. Employers are advised to ensure compliance with safety regulations at all levels, from company management to individual construction sites.
Special mention is made of high-risk work. When performing such work, the mandatory presence of responsible persons must be ensured.
"Safety at a construction site is the direct responsibility of the employer. Occupational safety requirements must be observed not formally but daily at every stage of construction work," the Ministry of Labor emphasized.
Companies are also recommended to create production safety and health committees, support the work of technical inspectors, and conclude collective agreements with additional social guarantees for workers.
The ministry stated that preventive and control work will continue to be strengthened. The main task is to prevent accidents and ensure safe working conditions.
Recall that on August 27, a construction crane collapsed during construction work, killing the crane operator. Then on August 31, another tower crane fell during the construction of a residential complex. One person died, and two others were injured. Criminal cases have been opened into both incidents, and investigations are underway.
