A child was struck by a sheet of corrugated metal that had been used to fence off a construction site in Astana. A responsible representative of the developer has been held administratively liable, according to infohub.kz.
The incident involving the fallen sheet metal in Kazakhstan's capital was reported by a Threads user under the handle valena8602.
"A sheet of metal fell on a child in the Nura district. Residents of nearby buildings have repeatedly written to the akimat asking for the area to be improved, because people walk to the bus stop along the roadway, next to the fence. Because of the mud all around. Construction is going on everywhere and the ground is dug up; there have been no basic living conditions for three years now. Do we really have to wait for something like this to happen for people to be heard?" the post reads.
The Astana Police Department responded to the publication.
"For improper maintenance of the construction site territory, the responsible representative of the developer (site supervisor) has been held administratively liable for violating landscaping rules. In this regard, the Nura district police department reports that the injured minor has received the necessary medical care and her life and health are not in danger. Law enforcement officers remind construction companies and responsible persons of the need to strictly comply with safety standards and maintain order in adjacent areas," the police said.
