A court in Astana has completed the trial in the case of a young man's death following a conflict near an entertainment venue. Two residents of the capital were found guilty of intentionally causing severe bodily harm that led to the victim's death, as reported by infohub.kz.
The incident occurred in December 2025 at one of the city's entertainment establishments. A verbal altercation between the convicts and two other patrons escalated into a fight.
According to the investigation, while intoxicated, the attackers struck the victims, identified as G. and Ch., multiple times on various parts of the body. They then fled the scene. As a result of the injuries, victim Ch. died at the scene.
During the trial, the defendants' guilt was fully proven. The court considered witness testimony, forensic medical examination conclusions, CCTV footage, and other case materials.
Both defendants were charged under Part 3 of Article 106 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which provides for imprisonment of eight to twelve years, with or without confiscation of property.
In sentencing, the court took into account mitigating circumstances. For defendant A., these included having a young child and no prior criminal record. For defendant Ә., it was the absence of a criminal record.
Ultimately, the court sentenced A. to 8 years and 6 months in prison, and Ә. to 9 years. Additionally, the convicts were ordered to pay 1,905,000 tenge in compensation for material damages, 2 million tenge for legal expenses, and 10 million tenge for moral damages.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed by the parties.
