In Astana, a court hearing into the death of paramedic Uldana Myrzuan moved to closing arguments, during which the widower of the deceased, Adilet Zeinel, spoke, the website infohub.kz reports.
Addressing the court, the man stressed that he does not place the blame for what happened on any one person. "As we said earlier, we are not accusing anyone and we are not saying that any single person is to blame for what happened. We are saying that the truth should have come out. We are not accusing Zhubaniyazova of having a direct influence or of being guilty of Uldana's death," Adilet Zeinel said.
He explained that the purpose of his statement was to remind everyone involved in the construction and acceptance of the housing that accountability is inevitable. "We want the people who were involved in overseeing this construction, who were witnesses, whoever accepted this building, whoever built this building. And everyone else who built homes, who built everything properly, to know that their every action can have very serious consequences, like our tragedy. We are not accusing anyone, respected court," the widower added.
According to him, no court decision can compensate for the loss. "No verdicts, no accusations against anyone, will bring back the person we lost or take us back to that November 8 and make everything all right. We leave everything to your discretion and believe that you will decide and deliver a very correct ruling that will serve as a lesson to others who build homes, and to the OSI entrepreneur to oversee and do their work properly," Adilet Zeinel concluded.
Recall that on November 8, 2025, in Astana, the outer brick cladding and an air conditioner collapsed from the facade of a nine-story residential building. An ambulance paramedic was injured at the scene — as the young woman tried to pull a man out of the rubble, an air conditioner fell on her head from the ninth floor. The victim underwent a craniotomy. On November 18, it became known that the paramedic had died.
On August 18, 2026, an open trial into the death of Uldana Myrzuan began in Astana. In the dock was the chairwoman of the property owners' association (OSI) of the building, Saule Zhubaniyazova.
During the hearing, the victims spoke — Gulnur Kaliyeva, who became disabled after the incident, as well as her brother, who rushed to help his sister after her call.
The court also learned that among the emergency service employees who saved people, there were dismissals and demotions. In addition, a former building manager who held that position before Zhubaniyazova was questioned as a witness. According to her, problems in the building existed even before 2020. The court was also shown video footage from surveillance cameras installed in the courtyard of the building where the cladding collapsed.
