Astana has conducted a preventive raid on the courtyards of multi-story residential buildings to identify illegal barriers that hinder the passage of fire trucks, ambulances, and police, reports infohub.kz.
The joint inspection was organized by Astana's Department for Emergency Situations, the prosecutor's office, the police, and the city akimat. Specialists examined the courtyards and identified concrete blocks, chains, barriers, and other obstacles that could impede the movement of emergency vehicles.
According to state authorities, measures are being taken in line with legislation to address the identified violations. Acting Head of Astana's Department for Emergency Situations Omirzhan Tukushev noted that such raids are carried out on a regular basis.
“The main goal of the raids is to prevent violations of fire safety requirements, eliminate detected violations, and explain to residents the importance of complying with fire safety rules,” said Omirzhan Tukushev.
Specialists explained that residents often install barriers to save parking spots or limit access for outside vehicles. However, in the event of an emergency, such obstacles could delay the arrival of emergency services.
The emergency services urged residents not to install illegal barriers in courtyards and to ensure unimpeded passage for emergency vehicles.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that in Astana, as part of the campaign “Yerkin Zhol Zhure” (Free Passage), emergency department employees and police officers inspected courtyards of residential complexes, access roads to social facilities, and areas with large numbers of people. Particular attention was paid to routes for fire engines and access to fire hydrants. During the raids, residents were also reminded of fire safety rules, proper use of electrical equipment, and what to do in case of a fire.
